Character Counts!
Two cross country athletes, Cecilia Sepulveda of Artesia
and Brittney Hojo of Cerritos, stopped in the middle of their race to aid a
fallen runner despite being in the front quarter of the race with about 800
meters to go. It was only after they were told that
help arrived that the two girls continued their race and finished,
nearly ten minutes later. Both were seniors who wanted to
beat their personal records in their last race and both could have helped their
teams in scoring, but they sacrificed both for the benefit of the athlete who
had fallen. Way to go ladies!
